Snapshot from Cuba: Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow

travel

the blog:

We just started looking through all of our travel photos from our recent vacation. Keith claims this shot I took in Cuba is the best photograph of the trip, I of course beg to differ because he took so many amazing photos! I have decided that I want to choose one favorite photo from each trip we take as a family and have a travel wall in our home. I am so excited to get this started.

Funny, I can think of one or two photos from each of our past summer trips that just stand out to me. Wedding photography is like this as well. There are so many great photos taken on a wedding day, lots of details, posed family photos, ceremony, etc. But without a doubt our favorite photos from a wedding day are usually the candid photos packed with emotion. The same for our wedding. In my mind I have snapshots of my favorites, motion, emotion, love. The importance of select photos, their story, their meaning that’s what photography is all about.

This photo above says so much about Havana. The movement, the old colorful buildings, the vintage cars whizzing by on a very humid evening, people fish quietly in the background, while others steal a not so private embrace, life in a busy city.

We are still processing all the experiences we had over the last three weeks but one quote from Anita Desai couldn’t be more true: “Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” Truth.
